HHR’s work to defend the human rights of Sri Lankans is not restricted to its struggle in Sri Lankan courts and communities. When all national legal procedures have been exhausted and no favourable outcome is achieved, HHR takes its struggle for human rights to the international community and the United Nations.
HHR has presented a number of cases to the United Nations Human Rights Committee in an effort to place international pressure on state and non-state actors to abide by international human rights standards.
